Patrick J. Tiberi Representative to Congress wrote me on July 29, 2016:

Mr. Chaplain DOYLE Thomas
PO Box 613
Worthington, OH 43085-0613

Dear Chaplain DOYLE Thomas,

Thank you for your letter regarding H.R. 4715. I appreciate this opportunity to correspond with you.

As you know, since the inception of the Clean Air Act, the intent of Congress has been that vehicles manufactured for, modified for, or utilized in organized motorized racing events would not be encompassed by the Clean Air Act’s definition of ‘motor vehicle’. Despite the clear intent of Congress, the Environmental Protection Agency has used provisions of the Clean Air Act as authority for regulating vehicles used solely for automobile competitions.

In response to this issue, on March 7, 2016, Congressman Patrick McHenry

Mchenry (R-NC) introduced H.R. 4715, the Recognizing the Protection of Motorsports Act. This bill would exclude vehicles used solely for competition from certain provisions of the Clean Air Act. This bill was referred to the U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee. While I am not a member of this committee, I will certainly keep your views in mind should this bill be considered for a vote by the full U.S. House of Representatives

Thank you again for taking the time to contact me about this issue.  Your opinions are important, and I appreciate you taking the time to share them with me.  If I may be of assistance in the future, please do not hesitate to contact me.

                                                                                    Sincerely,

                                                                                Patrick J. Tiberi

                                                                 Representative to Congress
